Juvederm injectable gel is a popular wrinkle filler made by Allergan Inc, the company behind Botox Cosmetic. Made with a smooth hyaluronic acid gel, Juvederm is ideal for temporary (6-12 months) correction of facial wrinkles and folds. Plastic surgeons also frequently use it for lip augmentation. The newest formula, Juvederm XC, contains lidocaine for improved comfort during your treatment.
Restylane is a widely used injectable filler that contains special cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, making it an excellent product for treatment of facial wrinkles and folds. The most common application is the nasolabial folds, the lines that travel from the nose to each side of the mouth. Other possible treatments include temporary correction of fine wrinkles, marionette lines, lip lines and more. The results of Restylane typically last for 6 – 12 months.
Sculptra is a long lasting injectable filler made from a polymer substance called poly-L-lactic acid. Sculptra recently received FDA approval for cosmetic use and was rebranded as Scultpra Aesthetic. When injected, Sculptra can gradually reduce visible symptoms of facial lipoatrophy and correct wrinkles for up to two years. Patients typically undergo 3 – 4 monthly treatments to reduce facial wrinkles, folds and other contour deficiencies. Like Radiesse it is used for special functions, not the common injectable procedures.
